Good Samaritan Project
A Project in each Lodge to give out GOOD SAMARITAN AWARDS to recognize people in your community or lodge for their acts of kindness.

DETAILS OF PROJECT:

 a.  A plaque, designed by your lodge and bearing your lodge’s name should be given to each Good Samaritan recognized.  One to three awards should be given at each awards ceremony.

b. These plaques should be given at a time and place where city dignitaries, members of other branches of the Order, and the Good Samaritan’s family could be invited.  I would like to be invited as well.

c.  This awards ceremony might be in the form of a pot luck luncheon or dinner, an open house, or an activity of some kind like game night.

d,  A selection committee for the Good Samaritans might consist of the NG, VG, PNG, and one or more members chosen by the NG and VG.

e.  The lodge should contact local newspaper, radio, and TV stations  with a news release prior to the awards ceremony, and then a follow-up story about the recipients should be sent out afterwards..

f.  Reporters from these various media should also be invited to attend the awards ceremony.

g.  Start with a simple Good Samaritan awards ceremony, and depending on how it works, build on it for a second or third awards ceremony.

h. Someone should make a brief presentation about our order, and how they might become involved with our order and the good works that we do.

i.  If possible, I would like to make my Official Visit to your lodge in conjunction with your awards ceremony, either a few days before or after the awards ceremony.

AIMS FOR THIS PROJECT:

a.  To get Good Samaritan award recipients and their family, and other members of our community into our lodge to see who we are, and what good works we are involved  in.

b.  To get our name and what good works we do out to our community through the various media.

c.  To stir interest from our invitees on our organization, and get some of them to join, thus increase our membership.
